What are the risks of hot tapping?​

Rarely, issues to arise during hot taps and can include leaks and lost coupons, where the section of cut-out pipe is lost within the pipe being tapped.

N.S. Pawliuk works hard to prevent issues from occurring through employee training. & experience, correct materials & equipment and adherence to industry best practices. 

What sizes of outlets can be hot tapped?

​

The most common pipe materials in Canada can support outlets the same size as the existing pipe. Manufacturers make specialized tapping sleeves for this purpose. Click here to see examples of "size-on-size" taps we have completed. 

 

Certain limitations apply, especially with concrete cylinder pipe. Contact us for more information. 

What temperatures and pressure can be hot tapped?

​

Pipes containing virtually anything can be hot tapped (including flammable products such as natural gas), but N.S. Pawliuk specializes in hot taps performed on pipe containing  potable water, wastewater and light industrial chemicals such as coolant, sludge and percolate.
