Valve Insertion

What is a Valve Insertion?

This involves adding a valve to an existing water main or sewer force main without interrupting flow in that main. The valve is installed in the open position, to be closed when needed. No disruption to water or sewer service occurs to neighbouring consumers of water or sewer service.

A valve insertion would be used to provide an opportunity to interrupt water flow in a long line, or to isolate a line for future work, or simply to control flow.
