300mm x 50mm Hot Tap 

N.S. Pawliuk completed a 300mm x 50mm hot tap on a ductile iron (YDI) potable water main during the 2024 construction season.

Materials Selection

  • Tapping Saddle: Robar 2786 isolating saddle. 

  • Valve (Main Stop): Cambridge Brass 301 NL AWWA thread inlet x compression CB outlet. 

Key Points

  • This hot tap was performed with no disruption of service to the hot tapped pipe. 

  • The blue nitrile gasket on this tapping saddle is designed to provide electrical isolation in a system with active cathodic protection.
